Styx Guitarist Tommy Shaw Recording Bluegrass Album

Styx guitarist Tommy Shaw was a busy man at the NAMM show recently. In addition to taking part in an acoustic jam with his Damn Yankees bandmates, Shaw played a short set to promote the VOX Virage.

Shaw took the opportunity to discuss his upcoming projects, which include some surprises. “I’m working on a bluegrass album that we’ll record in Nashville in March,” Shaw said, “and trying to finish it up before I go out on tour this summer with Styx.” Shaw says Styx is also going out on a major tour this summer. “We haven’t announced it yet, but you’re gonna like it,” the guitarist promised. Shaw is also working with Jack Blades on a follow-up to the Shaw Blades covers record Influence. “I’ve realized that I’m unable to take a break, ever,” Shaw joked.
