This news is brought to you by VH1 Radio’s Dave Basner

Today, Neil Young turns 64 years old.  That means he’s been making music for nearly five decades.  But what would the singer have done had he not pursued a career in music?  He filled us in.

“If I never sold a record?  Never got to make a record?  Never sang in front of an audience or anything like that?  I mean, I’d be a whole different person.  I don’t know what I’d be doing.  I might be driving a truck.  I don’t know.  If I hadn’t written any songs, I think I would have exploded.”

Thankfully, things didn’t come to that and Neil has made quite a name for himself.  In fact, on January 29th, MusiCares will honor the singer as their Person of the YearCrosby, Stills & Nash, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Dave Matthews and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are among the many musicians who will perform at the event.  Learn more at MusiCares.com.

Bon Jovi Lawsuit Dismissed

FROM WWW.CLASSICROCKREVISITED.COM:

This news is brought to you by VH1 Radio’s Dave Basner

A man suing Bon Jovi, Time Warner and Major League Baseball for 400-billion dollars has had his suit dismissed.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, Samuel Bartley Steele claims when the band wrote their song “I Love This Town,” the rockers ripped off a tune Steele wrote for the Boston Red Sox called “(Man I Really) Love This Team.”  Since the Bon Jovi track was used to advertise the 2007 MLB playoffs on the Time Warner network TBS, the man filed suit.  However, even his musicologist doesn’t see similarities in the tracks.  Although a judge threw the case out, Steele has appealed that decision.

Steven Tyler on Aerosmith: “It’s f*&#ing insane.”

by admin on Nov.12, 2009, under News

FROM WWW.CLASSICROCKREVISITED.COM:

This news is brought to you by VH1 Radio’s Dave Basner

Lately, there have been a lot of rumors circulating about Aerosmith.  Is the band looking for a new singer?  Did Steven Tyler quit?  When we recently caught up with Tyler, he told us what it’s been like being part of the group.

“Being in a band like Aerosmith for 30 years, it’s insane, it’s f***ing insane.”

It seems Steven has also assured fans that Aerosmith is not breaking up.  The singer took the stage Tuesday night at Joe Perry’s solo show to make the announcement.  Fans can rest assured that Tyler means it too since when Steven says something, good or bad, it’s based in fact.  The singer explained.

“Forever, I’ve gotten blamed and ridiculed for saying something that put somebody in their place or laid them out flat when, was it true?  You bet your ass!”

New Kinks Album In The Works

by admin on Nov.12, 2009, under News

FROM WWW.CLASSICROCKMAGAZINE.COM:

Tired of waiting for a new Kinks album? There could be a new one from the band next year, their first since 1993’s Phobia.

Band leader Ray Davies has been in the studio with original drummer Mick Avory, plus later members Jim Rodford (bass) and Ian Gibbons (keyboards).

He told Billboard: “We’ve got four, five new songs…and I’m just sort of getting them motivated and seeing what they’re playing like, because I haven’t played with the Kinks for eight or nine years.”

Whether Davies’ brother Dave will be involved remains to be seen. “We’ll see how he reacts to it,” Davies says of his brother. “If he’s physically able to do it is another matter, because he was quite seriously ill (he had a stroke in 2004). But we’re in communication, and we’re not disregarding it yet.”

Tyler Says He’s Not Quitting Aerosmith, Perry Not So Sure

by admin on Nov.12, 2009, under News

FROM WWW.CLASSICROCKMAGAZINE.COM:

It seems that Steven Tyler’s surprise appearance onstage with the Joe Perry Project in New York hasn’t resolved the Aerosmith situation.

Tyler joined the band on November 10 for Walk This Way, and grabbed the chance to tell everyone that he wasn’t quitting the ‘Smiths. However Joe Perry seems less than convinced this is the end of the matter.

Talking to Rolling Stone, the guitarist said: “He wants to take two years off from the band. The rest of the band wants to keep on working. We have so many different options to fill up that time. Anything is possible at this point. Basically, any communication that we’ve had over the last couple of months has been through managers, so that’s been pretty strange.”

However, in a possible hint that things with the vocalist might yet be resolved, he added: “I never won any money trying to second-guess what goes on in Steven’s mind. I guess this is just Aerosmith business as usual.”

We await the next instalment of AeroEnders.
