We recently reported that when asked what he plans to do next, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler said he wants to work on branding himself.  Well when Tyler’s bandmate, guitarist Joe Perry, found out about this, he turned to his Twitter page.  Joe wrote that he’s upset he learned about the news by reading it online, also disclosing that Steven hasn’t called him in months.  Perry stated, “A bit cold [to] forget us 4 guys,” then added, “What about fans?  The people that also love him and put him where he is after 40 years.”  Joe went on to reveal that the last time he called Steven, the singer hung up on him.  For the time being, Perry promises to put everything he can in all his upcoming Joe Perry Project shows.  Read more at Twitter.com/AdmiralPerry

Bachman-Turner Overdrive Legal Drama

by admin on Nov.10, 2009, under News

FROM WWW.CLASSICROCKREVISITED.COM:

This news is brought to you by VH1 Radio’s Dave Basner

Original Bachman-Turner Overdrive members Randy Bachman and Fred Turner were considering a reunion tour, but that news has upset fellow former bandmates Robin Bachman, Randy’s brother, and Blair Thornton.  According to The Canadian Press, Robin and Blair have even filed suit because when the band broke up in 1977, they got the rights to the group’s name and all variations of it.  Robin and Blair allege that Randy’s company registered several of BTO’s names with the patent office and that he’s spoken to concert promoters about touring as Bachman-Turner.  Robin and Blair are asking for damages for loss of market share, income and profit and they want to stop Randy and Fred from using any Bachman-Turner name.

Angus Young Recalls Hearing Brian Johnson For The First Time

by admin on Nov.10, 2009, under News

FROM WWW.CLASSICROCKREVISITED.COM:

Today, AC/DC’s giant box set, Backtracks, came out.  The package boasts rarities and live tracks dating back to the ‘70s.  That means that late original singer Bon Scott is on some tunes while new frontman Brian Johnson is on the rest of the songs.  Guitarist Angus Young told us about the first time he and his brother, guitarist Malcolm Young, heard Brian sing.

“He came down to our rehearsal room and we already had the ‘Back in Black,’ Malcolm had the bulk of that riff together, and when Brian came in and sung a few lines, and immediately I said to Mal, I said… cause we’d been fiddling about for a few days with adding in a solo piece to it and that’s when I said to Mal, ‘You know that guy can really he’s got the range to really belt those chorus lines out.’  So that kind of inspired us to go, ‘This’ll be the guy.’”

Along with the songs, Backtracks also features a DVD with the band’s videos as well as some live performances.  Pick up your copy today or learn more at ACDCBacktracks.com.

Ray Davies, Choirboy

by admin on Nov.10, 2009, under News

FROM WWW.CLASSICROCKREVISITED.COM:

Kinks singer Ray Davies has re-interpreted some of the band’s tunes and today released an album of the new adaptations.  It’s called The Kinks Choral Collection and each track on it features arrangements with the Crouch End Festival Chorus.  Davies is no stranger to choirs but it turns out that growing up, Ray actually got himself kicked out of his mandatory school choir so he could spend time with his pals.  He told us the whole story.

“Some of my renegade friends wanted to get off school to play soccer or whatever or play guitars and I managed to sing out of tune at one rehearsal and somebody snitched on me.  It’s really difficult when you’re naturally an in-tune singer to sing out of tune, but I did it.  In fact I impressed the headmaster so much he threw me out of the choir.  He said, ‘You’re banished,’ but then I could with my friends.  But I still love the music the choir was singing, it’s just I wanted some time off.”

You can love the music Ray does with his choir by picking up The Kinks Choral Collection.  The CD features hits like “You Really Got Me” and “All Day And All of the Night” and it hit shelves today.
